Easy and laid back
Guest Service Representative (Current Employee) - Ringgold, GA - August 22, 2023
You do your own thing while helping the customers. You can't get promoted. The pay isn't livable. And no PTO or paid holidays. The manager is stingy with pay and increases.
Pros
Great staff
Cons
Manager is cheap about pay

Tru hotel management sucks. They can't get on the same page and when they hire you they lie to you just to get you in the door to work.
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Florence, SC - July 19, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Your coworkers excluding management What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Horrible management, to many managers to please all of them is not ever gonna happen when they all want things done differently What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It's slack to say the least; management here is the worst. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very stressful due to all the different ways managers want things done...they need managers who can get on the same page.

Received very little training and got fired!
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Audubon, PA - July 7, 2023
I enjoyed working at the hotel itself, however the manager poorly trained me and naturally I made a lot of mistakes. All he had me do for training was looking at some notes, a little bit of computer simulations, and ocassionally was shadowed by a coworker. Whenever I tried to ask a question, my boss gave me a weird look and told me to keep studying. There was also an incident where he made me pay for a guy's room after I made a mistake with the payment while I was still in training. Despite this he fired me anyway shortly after.

Nobody does their job
Housekeeper (Current Employee) - Longview, TX - July 7, 2023
The top management are friends from another motel .. so none does there job they all sit at front desk , while the housekeepers pull our rooms , clean our room then get the things needed for the room .. they set a time for laundry to be pulled between 12 and 1 and still add on rooms to your paper after you done pulled all your others room ..
Pros
Only have to clock out for break if you leave

It's ok. Very business casual rather than professional
Assistant General Manager (AGM) (Former Employee) - Naperville, IL - July 6, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The guests and the layed back atmosphere. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management does not have your back. The management company is a starter company so there isn't much structure. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The environment is laid back and the culture is ok. There is a lot of gossip and drama in the workplace. Makes it hard to focus on work What is a typical day like for you at the company? Putting out a lot of fires. But other than that, very laid back.

Nice employees, bad management.
Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee) - Tahlequah, OK - June 22, 2023
The job itself is not bad, but ask any employee that works there about the management. They are ungrateful, rude and not a good place to work. Speaking for the one in Tahlequah Oklahoma.
Pros
Nice coworkers
Cons
Poor management

Brand new hotel with poor management
Front Desk Agent/Night Auditor (Former Employee) - Duluth, MN - June 21, 2023
I worked at Tru for about 5 months. Overall my job was very easy, however if i wanted time off, a request would have to be made months in advanced. Since i was working the front desk I was the first interaction with the guests upon arrival, and we would have frequent issues with housekeeping finishing rooms by the checkin time. One last thing is that the maintenance staff would often cut corners that wouldnt be considered up to Hilton standards such as duct taping HANDICAPPED RAILS!!!

Management is horrible
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Lake Charles, LA - June 20, 2023
My time working here was NOT the best. The managers there would hound you if you didn't sell out every single day..like that was really possible. They would micromanage to the point where it was just too much. Nothing positive to say about this place.

Management
Excutive Housekeeper ( Supervisor) (Current Employee) - Perrysburg, OH - June 15, 2023
Management is not fair and have favorites and it shows. Management also gossip a lot about employees. The housekeeping supervisor that they fired was the best management she was fair and tried to make the work place fun because it use to be boring. They do however let you get away with anything and you never get write ups for any wrong doing that you do.
Pros
Break whenever you like, also done by 5
Cons
No fairness, sucky management

Amazing team! Terrible management!
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - Spokane Valley, WA - May 29, 2023
Had an amazing housekeeping team! I loved them. Management on the other hand was not up to par. The GM makes you feel small and talks to you like you are a child. The hotel owner will not do anything even if the employees make a complaint.
