Management Issues

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
When I first started I enjoyed working there and all was great. However, I had an existing medical condition that they were aware of, but they were not willing to work with me when I had flair ups. I was reprimanded and warned about having to leave early or call out because of my health issues that were beyond my control.

Back Breaker

I had a very weird vibe since interview. After, I had to call everyday for 2 weeks just to talk to someone. No one answers their phone. It was honestly a job that started at $14 / hr, but it's still not enough for everything you have to do. Even the rooms that are completely horribly trashed, you get nothing extra for. Not until you've been there for a year before they'll do anything for you.But best believe management comes in in fancy clothes everyday.

Pros

Discount on market

Cons

Left alone

Nice environment to work in, but favoritism makes you feel like you're back in elementary school

It's a nice place to work and the gm and assistant gm were really awesome and helpful. They feed you lunch sometimes and do special lunches for people's birthday's and they never treat you badly. The most enjoyable part is being able to work without someone breathing down your neck.

Lack of support

Lack of organization. Smells like weed everyday. Managers are not always supportive with the work day but do try. They should do background checks and drug screenings. Constantly loosing staff. Feels like I'm a burden when I speak to management about issues pertaining to the work flow. Such as supply room and linen.

Pros

Not an 8 hr shift unless busy

Cons

Lack of managerial support.

Great pay, lots of hours

Overall a great place to work. Great pay, hours, understanding staff. The worst part is not having a set schedule. You never know what time you will actually be done working.

No training

The management at the residents inn by Marriott only focuses on their overall scores to customers. They do not care about their employees or their families. The work-life balance is non-existent. The lack of training is astonishing. They expect you to know how to do your job without the necessary training. When you ask for more training, management isn't available. There is no organization or proper management put in place.

Pros

Time goes by fast while working. Always something to do

Cons

No training, management

The good and the bad of it

The job WASN'T hard put the employees made the job difficult as they did not complete their share of the work. It was a family fuel type of environment if they could help you they will within reason. Also the free breakfast was a plus.

Pros

Paid breaks

Cons

*mandated to help at end of the day. *No reciprocity when do you need the help. * Petty corrections, easy fix like a soap or laundry bag

Place lacks enthusiasm and updates in all aspects from the rooms to staff management.

What is the best part of working at the company? Some staff members are friendly and make it easier to deal with day to day. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Mostly no paid holidays, mother daughter duo as management is inappropriate as theirs a ton of favoritism directed only to daughter. Housekeeping department management is miserable, lacks enthusiasm, and they do bare minimum and stay in locked office watching movies together. Also they feel the need to mess with timesheets onmany occasions with their staff.

The hotel is usually busy, the work easy to learn.

This job gave me a chance, despite being 60 and spending 25 years as a caregiver. I now have a better chance to get another job. If you work hard and get along with your co-workers, this would be a great fit for you.

Pros

Everyone has a sense of fun, and support each other.

Cons

You have be extra helpful and friendly to out guests no matter how busy you are, or rude the guest is to you.

Shady management

They lie and say they are flexible with taking off and proceed to deny every request I put in. They don't care about their employees, and work you to the bone for 7 to 8 days straight at times, seemingly in petty retaliation for calling off. It's almost like they try to make you to quit, to avoid paying for benefits or unemployment.

Productive and flexible

Is a great place to work for. They care about their employees. You stay busy even if your rooms aren't open yet. At least get a few hours a day. Can work longer if needed. They work around you. Make tips. Scheduled 7 hours but can work longer if need to, to get the work done. Make new friends with the ones you work with. Everyone is super friendly.
