New Management under Highgate
Guest Service Representative (Current Employee) - Gaithersburg, MD - August 6, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThere is no accountability as people can do w.e they want without fear of repercussions. Management since the Highgate takeover has seem really disconnected. Property is small but experiences issues as if it’s a resort due to people neglecting their job duties
Pros
Close to home….
Cons
Bad management, no accountability, low pay, sub par benefits

Hard at first but got the hang of it
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee) - 2020 North Litchfield Rd - April 7, 2023
it’s hard at first especially if you’ve never worked front desk before however they gave me a chance and the training lasted about two weeks, and I kept asking a lot of questions even after training and they always helped. the environment and the coworkers were amazing I’d recommend working at residence Inn. but I got let go because I made a couple mistakes after I got written up already so it was good until that point.

Lack of
Front Desk Manager/Night Auditor (Former Employee) - Salem, OR - April 5, 2023
Scheduling and management or lack of. They don’t have you’re back when they say they did. Didn’t have a back bone or would take any action or responsibility. AGM would overly share personal details about coworkers. Whenever a issue would be brought up from a guest we were told act surprised like we didn’t know. They will tell you something is okay and then through you under the bus as soon as it benefits them lots of work drama with all employees. I asked for four months about getting direct deposit and never got it. They hired a employee back that had made extreme advances to another coworker because of lack of employees and management didn’t wanna cover the shift. No one was professional or would look even presentable. Everyone was always a hour or two late.
Cons
No breaks or lunches. Lots of favoritism.

Easy job made difficult by management!
Room Attendant/Housekeeping (Former Employee) - Ocala, FL - April 4, 2023
While I enjoyed my employment at this hotel, management makes it hard to concentrate on your daily job! They bounce you around from floor to floor when they overbook and expect you to keep up with their mistakes! The pay is horrible! I was there just shy of a year making $12.75 training people off the street starting at $14.00 an hr! I felt some type of way about that! They would tell me how valued I was yet never gave me a raise! At times can be a hostile work environment!

Very laid back
Night Auditor (Current Employee) - Missouri - March 31, 2023
Management actually cares about their employees which makes a huge difference. Good pay, easy work, but no benefits. Just print off some paperwork, deal with a few check ins, make coffee, stock market, etc. it’s good for someone in school.

Over worked and underpaid
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee) - Central Islip, NY - March 30, 2023
Very stressful work environment. No security. Unsafe. High volume work with little to no support from managers. They rather lose a good employee than pay them more.

Productive and Fun
Front Desk Receptionist (Current Employee) - Chicago, IL - March 25, 2023
Good entryway for hotel industry since such a small property. Management needs major improvement for hotel to have a good work environment. Also need to take deeper dives into who they hire

To Messy
Customer Service (Former Employee) - West Greenwich, RI - March 25, 2023
Teamwork is essential for any company to grow. You may not easily find that here. Management doesn't seem to set rules for each employee the same & favoritism is definitely an issue. Ok to work here if you're in school or trying to save but not if you're looking for a long-term career.

The only job I’ve had where coworkers mysteriously disappear without warning or explanation
Houseperson/Janitorial (Former Employee) - Flagstaff, AZ - March 23, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Employee discounts on hotel stays at Marriott locations, if enrolled in whatever the program is called What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The day to day, the high standards that they have for you, which they don’t explicitly tell you about. The stress that you might lose your job at any time for any reason they deem fit. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Constantly scared/stressed but pretending everything is normal. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Greeting guests, stocking housekeeping carts, doing laundry, stripping and cleaning rooms, maintaining public areas, taking out garbage, mopping, sweeping and vacuuming floors, etc.

Guest Service Agent/Front Desk (Current Employee) - Erlanger, KY - March 22, 2023
I love coming to work, I love the flexibility they have. I love the fact that they are understanding to someone's needs. This is the best place I have ever worked...I really love the daily pay option, I just wish the pay rate could be more.
Pros
Seeing satisfied guest, being able to help someone.
Cons
Unsatisfied guest. Pay should be a lil more.

Shady management
Housekeeping (Former Employee) - Metairie, LA - March 20, 2023
They lie and say they are flexible with taking off and proceed to deny every request I put in. They don't care about their employees, and work you to the bone for 7 to 8 days straight at times, seemingly in petty retaliation for calling off. It's almost like they try to make you to quit, to avoid paying for benefits or unemployment.

Terrible place to work
Customer Service, house keeping (Former Employee) - London, ON - March 17, 2023
Managers were all bullies and treated housekeeping as though they were beneath them. Terrible work environment everyday and the pay was bad. I never felt appreciate.

I can honestly say I love working at Residence inn by Marriott.
House Men, Laundry Attendant, Housekeeping (Current Employee) - Kapolei, HI - March 16, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Residence Inn Marriott is a family oriented work environment. What makes my day is that smile or that comfortable look that the quest wear on their face when you see them walking around. When you say Aloha they reply its an Aloha Hotel alright. That's what makes my day work at Residence Inn. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Didn't encounter a stressful day yet. I work in the laundry. It can be very overwhelming at times. But we make it fun and carry on with our day. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Ohana means Family and Family means Forever. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Trying to keep a good energy flowing to help us get through our day. Yes work is work but who Said it has to boring. We do our job and share our life stories. Or what we went through the day before. Or what plans we having that's coming up. That's my day at work.

This place is prejudiced
Server (Former Employee) - London, ON - March 15, 2023
Fired me days after finding out i had adhd. Fired me on valentines day after I finished a shift no one wanted to work. Didnt give me a reason why i was being fired except "Theres no more work for me" Got Christian values shoved down my throat on a daily basis which I didn't appreciate, as I generally dont appreciate hypocritical smugness. Co-workers were ok. Management is horrid. I do not reccommend working here to anyone.
Pros
Early hours
Cons
Ableist attitudes towards employees.

More seasonal employment
Kitchen Manager (Former Employee) - Ocean City, MD - March 8, 2023
GM is very deceiving in paying his employees during winter months and tends to play favorites with employees. Is more concerned with his budget than his employees.
Pros
Great seasonal pay
Cons
Mainly summer job, deceiving in hiring process.
