New Management under Highgate
Guest Service Representative (Current Employee) - Gaithersburg, MD - August 6, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThere is no accountability as people can do w.e they want without fear of repercussions. Management since the Highgate takeover has seem really disconnected. Property is small but experiences issues as if it’s a resort due to people neglecting their job duties
Pros
Close to home….
Cons
Bad management, no accountability, low pay, sub par benefits

No training
Housekeeper, Maid (Former Employee) - Wichita Falls, TX - August 28, 2023
The management at the residents inn by Marriott only focuses on their overall scores to customers. They do not care about their employees or their families. The work-life balance is non-existent. The lack of training is astonishing. They expect you to know how to do your job without the necessary training. When you ask for more training, management isn't available. There is no organization or proper management put in place.
Pros
Time goes by fast while working. Always something to do
Cons
No training, management

When we barely have sheets to start rooms, or when someone calls in What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Good management, very positive place to work

Good place to work.
Food and Beverage Supervisor (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - August 22, 2023
A good place to work. Lower stress level than most places but had its busy times. Work like balance is ok you just have to demand it. Management is nice enough and an inclusive environment.

Great Experience
General Manager (Former Employee) - Virginia - August 18, 2023
The benefits are extremely expensive and the wages for hourly associates is low. Not a ton of support from the corporate office to help fill vacant positions. Lots off meetings could have been emails.
Pros
Monthly team luncheon, open door policy
Cons
Low wages, long days

Marriott hotel (Current Employee) - St. Louis, MO - August 13, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Friendly workers, great staff, and good pay! Nice to clean and they come check in on you. To make sure your rooms are up to standard but not on your butts also if you need help with a room they don't mind helping! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Having to work outside is the one rough part of working at this job! But once you get used to it it's not so bad!! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Everyone is very nice. The bosses buy you lunch sometimes and supply water and Gatorade on hot days to stay hydrated. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Clock in load cart get rooms for the day and I'm off and running I also take snacks and water and eat snacks throug out the day as well taking a 30 min lunch!!!

very dangerous part of the city
Night Auditor (Current Employee) - Indianapolis, IN - August 13, 2023
its right up against the canal so you get alot of crazy people just around the hotel, never in it. they had a really bad shootout here during one of my shifts where the gunmen shot at a guests car, people get robbed all the time in their parking lot during nights.
Cons
lots of crime in the area

Workplace is fun, but job is only temporary - Ratings Split
Guest Service Agent/Night Auditor (Former Employee) - Sunnyvale, CA - August 13, 2023
My typical work usually starts with the log-in to the computer around 11PM. There are usually a few late check-ins/follow-ups from the PM shift and thus must follow procedures to check in those who are staying at the hotel. When all of the check-ins are done, I had to follow the procedures in order to successfully complete the job. I usually prefer to follow the main night audit checklist starting two hours later to allow me more time to correct any errors that I may have missed. As the hotel features a mini-mart next to the front desk, I also was responsible for stocking up on items from drinks to small frozen entrees and from candies to ice cream - even alcoholic beverages. Another cash count plus any additional tasks are carried out before the end of my work around 7AM along with answering any inquiries from hotel guests or the general public. I have largely enjoyed interacting with the general public and with fellow employees who I consider as good friends to interact with on a regular basis. However, the hardest part of my job is trying to keep up with the duties and responsibilities as it can be daunting for first-time night auditors like myself. I was able to learn as much as possible on what it takes to successfully complete all night auditing tasks in the short time I was in the hotel. The management at the hotel did praise me for completing all of the main night audit tasks, though they recommend me to apply for a night audit job at bigger hotels so that there are at least two night auditors and/or a night audit supervisor each day. The checklist was even more -
Pros
Compensation was above average, benefits were on par with big brand hotels, overall job is straightforward with checklist
Cons
Very high turnover - upper management could do a much better effort to retain workers, job is varied in length and may only be temporary, morale is below average

None, people at the front desk could give the room request a little quicker What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very friendly and family oriented What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very smooth and busy at times

It was ok
Night audit (Former Employee) - Amarillo, TX - August 2, 2023
It was an ok job for an over night job. Pretty laid back as long as you did your job correctly. The only thing was management seemed to change their minds a lot about what they wanted the over night people to do (like how they wanted the breakfast area set up, ect).

Great staff and satisfying job
Front Desk Receptionist (Current Employee) - 450 Division St, Waite Park, MN - August 1, 2023
The day-to-day can be slow sometimes and fast at other times but the staff there are all fantastic and the supervisors are both very understanding and friendly. I feel like I be upfront with nearly anything but never need to.

Friendly team
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee) - Auburn, ME - July 29, 2023
I worked there for about 6 months. The assistant manager was great but the manager was a little unapproachable. You become family. Wedding parties sometimes tip you with nips.

Everyone was very welcoming when I first started. The management has a strong sense of belongingness towards everyone making sure no one is being left behind. Fair and equal treatment towards each and every employee. The team were very accommodating and hands-on for new learners. It was really fun working with this team.

Don't waste your time.
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - July 28, 2023
The management is very cliquey with employees and uses this to their advantage. Pay is low for amount of work. Best thing about this job is meeting new people from all over.
