New Management under Highgate

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
There is no accountability as people can do w.e they want without fear of repercussions. Management since the Highgate takeover has seem really disconnected.Property is small but experiences issues as if it’s a resort due to people neglecting their job duties

Pros

Close to home….

Cons

Bad management, no accountability, low pay, sub par benefits

Back Breaker

I had a very weird vibe since interview. After, I had to call everyday for 2 weeks just to talk to someone. No one answers their phone. It was honestly a job that started at $14 / hr, but it's still not enough for everything you have to do. Even the rooms that are completely horribly trashed, you get nothing extra for. Not until you've been there for a year before they'll do anything for you.But best believe management comes in in fancy clothes everyday.

Pros

Discount on market

Cons

Left alone

Decent work flow not too busy but terrible training

Working front desk checking in and out guest was not a problem as long as you were familiar with FOSSE. Complying to guest request was not an issue. A major issue was the policies that were not trained to front desk. Every employee was trained differently and it was a major problem when guest were informed of our policies. If you werent aware of a policy due to the lack of training that management failed to give you, you were lectured and gaslit constantly from managment. The miscommunications and the constant gaslighting that management continued through out my entire employment there was unacceptable. Not to mention, they are extremely stingy when it came to requesting time off. Don't bother applying Downtown St.Paul.

Pros

Holiday Pay, Ot, Pto, decent pay wage.

Cons

Inconsistent schedule, No proper training

Nice environment to work in, but favoritism makes you feel like you're back in elementary school

It's a nice place to work and the gm and assistant gm were really awesome and helpful. They feed you lunch sometimes and do special lunches for people's birthday's and they never treat you badly. The most enjoyable part is being able to work without someone breathing down your neck.

Good job to get experience but low pay

I loved this job at first but after a while I noticed a lot of favoritism, the pay was not that great for how much gas and tolls to get there. I am supposed to be full time but last 3 months have been slow so I’ve only been getting scheduled 4 days a week. More duties are always getting added on but no raises. Only pizza and ice cream is what they’re willing to give us.

If you like being controlled by your bosses all the time and don’t mind being unrecognized for your work this is the place for you!

What is the best part of working at the company? Not much redeeming qualities to say here. I was a houseman there which was a job that should’ve been pretty easy and straightforward but was made alot more difficult because of my managers treating me poorly and always micromanaging me, always trying to point out every little thing I did wrong and often blaming me for things wrong w the hotel. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Coming into work and dealing with the horribly rude managers. This hotel had a really toxic work environment no one was ever happy thereWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Toxic work environment, lots of drama, frustration, and it felt like it was the managers VS the employees What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful, irritating, ruining my mental health, being bossed around by management every 5 minutes or so

Lack of support

Lack of organization. Smells like weed everyday. Managers are not always supportive with the work day but do try. They should do background checks and drug screenings. Constantly loosing staff. Feels like I'm a burden when I speak to management about issues pertaining to the work flow. Such as supply room and linen.

Pros

Not an 8 hr shift unless busy

Cons

Lack of managerial support.

Great place to work

I love working here unfortunately. I was laid off in march of twenty twenty due to the pandemic and I ended up going to a different company wish I would have returned.

Chaotic, calm, and fun

It's a very special blend of unprecedented chaos at random moments, with plenty of calm in between—though I feel that is most jobs. The guests that stay are incredibly sweet and fun to talk with, especially when regulars come by. The staff is the epitome of "found family" and really help smooth over any bumps or cracks that come up. Overall, a wonderful place to work.

Great pay, lots of hours

Overall a great place to work. Great pay, hours, understanding staff. The worst part is not having a set schedule. You never know what time you will actually be done working.
