It was a great experience becoming an independent contractor. I learn to manage myself, others, and infuse cultural relations with American standards, rules, and expectations.
My typical day involved walking right pass my work station onto the flight line to catch, marshal, and park multinational jets. The dessert heat made it hard but very rewarding knowing your efforts lead to mission success. As much as I was an independent leader, I often worked with my co-works to deal with high tempo flying schedule against a small flight line with minimal available parking. I learned a being a leader means working with a team to get the job done. In a war zone, there's no room for error.
