Standard Hotel Work
Front Office Manager (Former Employee) - Germantown, MD - September 24, 2018
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedVery standard hotel job. Management in the hotel world is like a revolving door. Some good, some bad as its the nature of the job. Great for learning how to work with a team and develop customer service skills. Also, helps one to learn basic management skills.
Pros
Good team environment, good benefits when traveling, good for learning hospitality skills
Cons
Low pay for amount of stress, lack of professionalism, can be cut-throat

It’s a job I guess
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Cheney, WA - October 1, 2023
Be prepared to get yelled at for the dumbest things; be prepared to be overworked and feel under appreciated. The older the guest is the more entitled they feel, lack of communication, and lack of support. Management would side with guest, owner would talk horribly about the workers; behind their backs..what are we in 9th grade drama. It was good in the beginning but each day, week, and month would decline in everything. Then when you feel like your time is up and you leave; they take it personally like your insulting them…. OH ALSO DONT FORGET ABOUT PEOPLE BEING FAVORITED AND FOR THEN TO TELL YOU; YOUR RTO REQUEST ALL LATE
Pros
The hours
Cons
Everything

No me puedo quejar,, pues fueron amables conmigo..
Housekeeping (Former Employee) - Raeford, NC - October 1, 2023
Una experiencia bonita, el compañerismo,, siempre hay de todo tipo de caracteres. . Pero se trabaja a gusto.. La paga baja,, un horario casi bajo, pues este trabajo es como part time.. pues no reúnes las 40 horas...
Pros
Buen trabajo
Cons
Salario y horario

I was a flawless employee, got fired for literally no reason, boss refused to tell me. Weirdest thing ever.
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Terre Haute, IN - October 1, 2023
Check in guests, check to see if there were any guests in the pool to keep track for safety reasons, answer phone for reservations, tend to needs of guests, keep front area of the hotel clean and free of debris. -I learned that the hospitality world is a lot of fun and you can really meet a ton of people who will come in handy one day, be nice to everyone! -management was unsupportive and lazy -culture was fun, I enjoyed being at work and learning about our guests and how the differences in our demographics bring challenge for society.
Pros
Meeting new people and how their culture differs from ours.
Cons
Working late by myself, was kind of intimidating.

Good place to work
Guest Service Manager (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - September 28, 2023
Good benefits all across IHG Hotels, not just in UK but all around the world. Free meals on duty, good company benefits. Have been with IHG for a long time now, no complaints

Good for quick money, not long term
Night Auditor (Former Employee) - Raleigh, NC - September 28, 2023
Just read my cons section. The best part of the job is all the amazing guests you can meet. It's just a place to earn some money. Location is important because they can be independently owned. At the Wake Forest location on Common, off Capital Blvd and Falls of Neuse the hotel owner is cheap so many things need updating.
Pros
The guests
Cons
No benefits at all, one person on per shift at front desk, big grapevine and small professional communication, cheap owner of hotel, laundry floor is a lawsuit waiting to happen

Productive Job
Breakfast Attendant (Former Employee) - Holiday Inn Express & Suites North Airport - September 27, 2023
A typical day at work is overload with customers and restocking. Managing your time wisely is key to clocking out on time. Workplace culture is every man for himself. The hardest part of the job is truck day. The most enjoyable part of the job is working individually and seeing new faces everyday. Management is either a hit or miss. Don’t expect benefits or raises even if you end working there for years.
Pros
Free Breakfast.
Cons
No Benefits.

Fine workplace
Housekeeping Supervisor (Former Employee) - Aberdeen, SD - September 27, 2023
This place was actually enjoyable for me. It did get less enjoyable when hiring certain people after my favorite people had quit. Job was not hard. Most enjoyable was being able to work by myself

Productive, Fun, Growth Opportunities, Slow work Setting
Housekeeping (Current Employee) - Charlotte, MI - September 27, 2023
Great place to work. Awesome people to work with and they feel like family. Small franchise so its not overwhelming. Very flexible environment. You are considered a person here and not just a number.

The girls I managed
Executive Housekeeping Manager (Current Employee) - Tucson, AZ - September 26, 2023
I thought this would be a good company to work for they sell themselves really well. But as housekeeping manager I had no support from the higher management. They are so worried about pay unemployment that they keep workers that just bring the whole team down and keep turn-over high
Pros
The housekeepers I managed
Cons
Upper management, say one thing do another can't keep GMs so always in chaos

Never worked here I would want to please
Like I said I never worked there I want to please (Former Employee) - Anyone of them - September 26, 2023
I've been to the suite and it was very nice people with smiles on their faces who greets you. The restroom smells nice so people should look at things like that because cleaning restrooms are disgusting and for a person to keep it comfortable and smell nice and clean they deserve a lot of praise, rewards and attention. And as far as management goes it needs a littke more work not much but slightly a little cause some aren't that nice or helpful. Just my opinion.
Pros
Beautiful place, comfortable, happy people
Cons
Stand around smoke to much

Wish I could give 0 stars just a horrible place to work. Would not recommend at all. The job is not worth the pay. This job should pay more then they do.

Turnover rate exceptionally high
Housekeeping (Former Employee) - Sierra Vista, AZ - September 23, 2023
Favoritism from management. If they don't like you your schedule will look different than everyone else's. Don't expect the raise they promise to give you. Won't ever happen. They take advantage of your experience and use you. The housekeeping supervisor is lazy and favored. The GM is rude! If they weren't there this place would be A LOT better!
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Management

Fast paced, stressful environment, inconsistent hours .
Housekeeper/Front Desk (Former Employee) - Lethbridge, AB - September 23, 2023
Employees were kind and help with training however the high turnover rate makes this inconsistent. Management is responsive and helpful at the beginning of the employment however deteriorates over the course of employment here. Work days can range from calm and slow to fast and rushed due to vacancy, as well as constant staffing issues. Work alone for the most part however not all employees are held to the same standards.
Pros
Available hours, work alone, employee discount on hotels.
Cons
Stressful, understaffed, low wages, little growth, inconsistent hours

Not Bad
Night Auditor (Former Employee) - Newport, OR - September 21, 2023
Wasn't a bad place, the managements was fine but always badgered people about selling rewards programs. Nobody wants to be asked about signing up for a rewards program at 2am.

Lovely workplace
Front Desk Manager (Former Employee) - Denton, TX - September 20, 2023
Very amazing job that trained and provided a ton of growth for advancement. 10 hours on foot. Ins and out of opera. Management disorganized but overall amazing people. It’s a struggle for everyone. I understand. The people are amazing. Hardest part was breakfast shift. The customers are amazing.
