Very comfortable work environment.
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Century Blvd., Germantown, MD. - June 17, 2014
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedA very professional place to work. You are empowered, and exposed to all areas of hospitality. The team-work mentality makes situations that seems impossible, possible.

Dead-end, dirty, and careless managers
Front Desk Associate (Former Employee) - Palm Coast, FL - October 1, 2023
I would avoid working for this company. I STRONGLY suggest avoiding the Fairfield at the specific location I worked at. The managers regularly made it clear to me that my safety was not their concern. They pay was pretty horrible, and the entire hotel is constantly in a state of disarray. You can get almost no coverage if something happens to you and you cannot work, so the managers hold it against you because the desk has to be staffed 24/7. You do not receive benefits, or any sort of paid time off or sick leave. The only pro to this job was that it was extremely mindless most of the time, and it was just good for in between jobs.
Pros
Easy
Cons
No benefits, unsafe, low pay, potential for long hours

Lack of communication from Management What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Bad upper management, no maintenance help
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Capitola, CA - September 25, 2023
Upper management is careless and stingy. I was laid off out with no warning as soon as the summer rush started slowing down. There is also no maintenance worker after 5pm, leaving the front desk to deal with irate guests without a working toilet/ air conditioner.

So far amazing I enjoy the people here. I enjoy the customers and I definitely enjoy the environment and area.
Operations Manager (Current Employee) - Saint Charles, MO - September 22, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The other employees! The pay is pretty good too. Room for advancement is extremely high. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Not enough workers always short staffed What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Pretty laid back. We are not required to wear uniforms. We can wear our own clothes but they have to be business casual. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Same as any other hotel really. Working with Marriott’s been a lot easier because their system does not crash as much as other hotels that I’ve worked for.

Productive
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Fenton, MI - September 21, 2023
Started off ok but management made me not like it anymore. Became a little catty and I decided that I wanted to switch gears and go into banking instead.

Front Desk is nice if you’re a people person.
Front Desk Receptionist (Current Employee) - Temple, TX - September 21, 2023
I like it. Wish I got paid more though. Being a people person is needed for this job. Sometimes you get odd situations but in general it’s nice. Management is good at my hotel. Can’t say for other hotels cause I’m not there.
Pros
Good company
Cons
Pay is inadequate

Busy workplace
Front Desk Receptionist (Former Employee) - Florida - September 20, 2023
Pay was horrible. The Marriott room benefits are nice. We were a franchise so we were not offered health care or any other benefits. I learned a lot while I was there but would not choose to work there again.

Fun but Disjointed
Front Desk Agent (Current Employee) - Lexington Park, MD - September 19, 2023
The employees i work with are a delight, and to their credit the managers do what they can to make sure we get along and work well as a team. The management above can make policies a little disjointed and barely cohesive at times.

Fairfield Hotel - A Tough Experience
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Niagara Falls, ON - September 17, 2023
Working at Fairfield Hotel felt like trying to balance on one leg all day long. There is no setting I this position so I had to stand for my entire 8-hour shift. What made it even tougher was no breaks for the entire 8-hour shift The training I received was like trying to drink from a fire hose. The managers rushed through it in just two days, and when I couldn't keep up, they made me feel as slow as a tortoise in a race. To add to the struggle, the pay was only $16 per hour. What made it even worse is that I had to deal with unprofessional management, they didn’t even know how to speak with their own employees To sum it up, my time at Fairfield Hotel was tough. Standing all day with no breaks, rushed training, unprofessional management and low pay made it an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Pros
Easy job
Cons
Bad management

Work life balance
Night Auditor (Former Employee) - Fort Lauderdale, FL - September 17, 2023
You work a lot with very little pay. Not worth it. The work is easy but the pay sucks. Management doesn’t really care about employees. Everyone always calls out Leaving you to have to cover the next shift
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
Little pat and over worked

Horrible place to work. They just use you then toss you aside via text message. Getting let go over a text is completely unprofessional.

Don’t work for them
Front Desk Manager (Former Employee) - Northfield, MN - September 11, 2023
Corrupt, not a safe environment to work in. Toxic environment. 2 faced employees and GM. Look elsewhere! Work way more than you are supposed to. Just not a great location or establishment.
